This is a top notch travel resource. It is completely original. I don't believe there is anything like it anywhere" seriously grateful in Burlington

"How to live and travel the United States forever on $20 a day. Come on, I thought, who is he kidding? Well I'm not skeptical any longer. I am on my fourth month out west and I still pinch myself every morning to make sure it's real" Wally Jackson currently in Utah

"The only book that you need to travel the US. Period." Mathew in Raleigh

"I really enjoyed reading Vanabode. Rarely does a book spawn feelings of wanderlust in me, but Vanabode did just that. Thanks for writing such an interesting and informative book" Joe

"I now have read your whole book and there are certainly a whole lot of worthwhile suggestions even for experienced campers as me an my wife. It has definitely supported us in carrying through our plans to sell all our belongings and go Campervanning in Europe, East-Asia and Africa." Rudolf

"I had a bad health scare and want to create memories with my boys in case things get worse. Figured out what life is really about when thought I was going to die at 38. Getting healthier now, and realize work and stuff isn't as important as I used to think. Husband said he'd go if I can figure out how to afford it. Looks like Vanabode is the answer." Racquel

paraphrased from a Kindle review of Vanabode - "Just knowing that this lifestyle can and does happily exist is inspirational. The author's message isn't the "tune in, turn on, drop out" variety as one might expect about a book on living out of a camper van. Instead, it's a call to live life to the fullest, savoring every bit of the country's natural riches. It's a shame this book isn't available in a physical, non-ebook format, as it would make for a handy traveling reference guide. It also convinced me that despite the shininess of RVs and the amenities of motorhomes, plain white vans (cheaper, better mileage, more discreet, more maneuverable) are really the better buy..." Norton

"Life is hammering me lately, brother-having to file personal banruptcy, heading for a divorce from my wife of 15 years,my business failing, causing me to accept a job making 1/3 of what I was after being unemployed for months, and now taking up residence in my van. Thanks so much for the help you have been a lifesaver at this low point in my life." name withheld

paraphrased from a Kindle review of Vanabode - "I especially related to the philosophy of simplifying our lives. What do we need versus what do we want? Our life should be more about making memories than accumulating stuff. We have wanted to travel as a couple, and as a family for many years. But there's always a reason, or a dozen reasons, not to do it. For years we said when we reach this milestone or that one, then we'll travel. When the kids are older. Life slips by. For many people, the right time never comes.

Traditional travel is expensive and out of our reach. We have been looking for some way that we might simply travel with our younger sons for the time while they are still at home. I tell you, for us at least, I think vanaboding is the answer. You don't need a $200k Class A motorhome to travel either. Just like you don't need a $4k digital SLR to take great photos. Jason shows a simple van is all we'd need.

We enjoy backpacking and hiking to get away from the daily grind. Vanaboding seems like a great counterpart to our backpacking. They both have similar philosophies of living simply, making minimum impact on the world and on financial resources, and getting the most out of life.

I was surprised to see not only financial and philosophical explanations but also faith-based justifications for why vanaboding is a great option." Richardson

"Despite its imperfections, 'Vanabode' was worth every penny to me. If I had the experience that fulltimers have, I wouldn't buy this book. But I don't, and I found it to be invaluable in understanding my options and
getting my head around the concept in general. This guy took the time to put a whole plan together in 1 easy to read book. He also took the time to answer some questions via email." Brad

"Jason has written the best how-to book for achieving a unique and fun way to travel that I have ever read and I am already a full-time RVer." Sharon

"You blew me away with your service. Wow, Sunday evening and your taking care of business! Thank you again, for helping me in a timely manner.!" Steve

We finished your book Vanabode. We love it! We have been saving penny by penny for 4 years to live on the road and dreaming of freedom. We are now getting closer to our dream and a few weeks ago I did a google search to see if there was anybody out there with our same dream of freedom. I came across your book. We read it and are hitting the road in 2 months! Perfectamundo! Ann and Sue in Washington

Jason you and Kelly have been one of our first and lasting inspirations for helping us change our lives, as we'd envisioned. We went from living in debt and high expenses in CA, to packing up our stuff, putting it in storage and hitting the road finally in Sept. 2010! I've been reading your blog since the days of the RV Diary, and now your Vanabode site. I love your philosophy on life, and feel you guys are kindred spirits! (We LOVE the deserts, great food, and VEGAS, too! ) Anyway, Rich and I have been traveling the U.S. and Mexico now for almost a year, renting and camping using your book. Thank you very much. Kathy

Thanks so much for your book and website and for being out there doing it. Ed Buryn would be proud of you! Chum

paraphrased from a Kindle review of Vanabode - "I don't even have a van, but there are so many principles that can be applied to other forms of camping, such as cooking strategies, making the most of the traveling life, how to take showers and maintain proper hygiene, and where to camp for free. Just knowing that this lifestyle can and does happily exist is inspirational itself. There are a few grammatical errors, such as missing commas and a couple of misspelled words, but they probably wouldn't bother anyone besides grammar Nazis like myself. There was one small issue that felt slightly unethical where he shows you how to get free gym memberships. Nobody really gets hurt, but it's not something I think I would do personally. The pros far outweigh the cons. It's a shame this book isn't available in a physical, non-ebook format, as it would make for a handy traveling reference guide. This book may very well convince you to make that dream of full time travel a reality" Norton

"Living on the road was a dream my husband and I had but sadly he passed on before it became real.
For the last 12 yrs. I havn't been able to figure out how to do it on my own. With your book and related
information I was finally able to follow my heart, even though it is now just me and my dog. Thank you for the inspiration" Mindy from Wisconsin

paraphrased from a Kindle review of Vanabode - "I bought this book because I ran across Jason's Web site and the story he tells about the vanaboding way of life was so intriguing. We all secretly want to pack up and just head off down the highway seeking adventure. But then reality sets in. What about the kids? How will we afford it? What if we get sick? There are a million questions. The author addresses many of our primary concerns in a straightforward way. Traditional travel is expensive and out of our reach. We have been looking for some way that we might simply travel with our younger sons for the time while they are still at home. I tell you, for us at least, I think vanaboding is the answer. I really like that Jason took the time to talk about what's important, really important to each of us. You don't need a $200k Class A motorhome to travel either." Richardson

"Can't stop looking thru this at all the crazy info….you go WAY beyond anything we have tried……..We usually motorcycle travel, but maybe we can incorporate much of your other thinking into our long-distance travels…" anonymous

"I don't mean to bother you but i came across your website and after YEARS of searching the internet I think that your technique might be exactly what I'm looking for. First a little about me. I just turned 35 last week, i am single with no kids and no prospects, and I recently quit my job of over 12 years because I just couldn't take it anymore, it actually made me physically ill thinking about going to work. So I took a low level job with less responsibility and less stress, but it also came with less pay, much less. My time is more important to me than money but since I have been at this job I am just getting by with nothing left over to save or have any fun with. I truly feel stuck, and if there was a way out I would take it. I don't like to work. I'm not lazy I just don't like someone else (boss) telling what to do and when to do it. I spent probably at least 75% of my life doing things I don't want to do. For about a year I've been thinking about getting an RV and going from place to place just living and sight seeing and traveling, there is so many places in this country that I want to see, and mabye eventually the rest of the world. The problem is in this society you need cash flow of some kind. And with the job that I have now I can't afford to do anything. But if there was a way I could start to make some extra money and eventually make enough and be able to sustain it wherever I'm at without having an acual job, wel that would be a dream come true. I've been looking at your website and alot of the things on it really hit home with me and seem possible to do. Since getting the book things are much better. I shut down the high rent apartment, settled into my newly set up van, saved a bunch of money, and headed out. I have been on the road for about 5 months now doing the most incredible things. I have taken a seasonal position with one of the work places you list in the book which starts next month. From what I can tell so far I will work there for 35 hours per week and have enough after the 3 months to allow me to vanabode another 6-7 months without work. It feels so good I can hardly believe I am living like this. NO STRESS!" anthony

"I purchased your Vanabode book a few months ago to get some tips on living the nomadic lifestyle. I am married with three daughters (9, 6, 4) and we're heading out sometime in September if all goes well. We will do remote camping only with tents in addition to the van bed shown in your book since sleeping with 5 in the van is not practical. Your work has been a great help. Thank you" George and the girls

"Jason, Im definately impressed with what I read so far. Just one of your first 10 pages touches on things that I was thinking just yesterday before I happened to stumble across your site today. I was thinking about what we need in life versus what we think we need and want in life. Last night I was contemplating how much more I could accomplish if I didn't have to pay a mortage and I swear to you 10 minutes before I stumbled across your site I was searching Craiglist for cargo style vans and toying the idea with traveling / sleeping in one. Anyway I just find it funny, in a cosmic coincidence kind of way, that shortly after I reached some of these conclusions on my own I found someone on the internet who already has experience living it. Furthermore, for me your writing style is great. It's quite easy to read and really seems to get to the point. I definately like your ebook. I can't wait to finish it." Tim in New Mexico

"Purchased your Ebook on Vanaboding and couldn't put it down. I stayed up until 5:30 AM reading it. I have wanted to do this for awhile now. Now you have me hooked. I was planning on a start date of September 2012 (have to get clear of my debts first) however after reading Vanabode I'm going to try and move the date up one year." still working

I admire your free spirit. My wife and I sold a manufacturing business 25 years ago and bought a windjammer schooner and sailed with passengers for 15 years. Everybody thought we were nuts but the next fifteen years were the best of our lives..so far. Sold the schooner in 2000 and went to manage a 25 room inn on Cape Cod for 4 years. Don't even think about managing an inn, it's real WORK! We now have an online site selling discount cards. Time to go RV'ing me thinks. Looking forward to finishing your book. Good luck with your adventures, you've got the right idea! just call me Cape Codder
