"Although this book is really for those that travel, camp or seek an easier lifestyle, I can't help but relate it to my personal needs. As a New Orleans native, evacuating from approaching hurricanes is a normal summertime activity. Chaos always ensues. After reading Jason Odom's 'Vanabode,' evacuations will now seem more like vacations. 'Vanabode' covers everything that you would normally stress about and defines them in ease. What to travel in, where to travel, how to eat well, and how to open up a world of fun is laid out in an easily understandable format. I recommend this book for people that travel, those that want to live stress free and yes evacuees. So read this book, follow the advice and thank Jason next summer when you are touring National Parks instead of standing in line at the Astrodome waiting for FEMA!" Marlynn

"Great book man. I was going to spend all this money on insulation and electricity -- but you were like screw that just go! haha. Love the destinations list at the end and the inventory." Brendan

"Hi Jason, My name is Andrew Paglio and I bought your book a couple years ago. The information I've obtained has opened so many doors to doing what I want to do and not have to worry so much about anything. I recently quit my job of selling insurance and went on a bicycle tour from my home in Melbourne, Florida to New Orleans for my cousins bachelor party, very fun and wouldn't of happened had I not read your book. I'm going to take a bike touring school in Montana this June to hopefully become a guide. I'd like to do a couple tours a year and vanabode the rest of the year. I'm currently working part time in The 1000 Islands in Cocoa Beach, really fun! Not trying to ramble on but the point I'm trying to make is I really enjoy my life a lot better since I've read your book and I hope your still making updates as you provide excellent information and all comes in handy. Thanks for everything, God bless." Andrew

"My biggest concern isn't whether I want to do this or not, its that I want to do it long term, years if not more as opposed to scattered runs of a few weeks, but am unsure how exactly to make enough money for things like the 5 essentials while living on the road and not being tied down to a job in one place for too long....I mentioned in my first email doing this with my band, and though I may do so eventually, theyre tied down by college and things like that right now and I can't wait 2 or more years of feeling more depressed each day that I just go through the passionless pattern we go through to serve money. If I'm somewhat venting its because I've never had anyone else to talk to who'd fully understand a desire for this type of life. And it's really cool that youre open about being christian in the book and how a relationship with God is most important. I completely agree, I'm a faithful christian myself. So it's cool to hear from a fellow hippie-christian haha. " Christopher

"Hello Jason! Just bought your book and am absolutely stoked after reading it! I have been living in a van for 6-8 months/year for the past couple years solo and am so excited to share this upcoming trip with my lovely lady! You have offered some outstanding advice, and I will be recommending your book to everyone I know! I was hoping you could email me the list of links, as I read the book on a kindle and would prefer to not transcribe them. Thank you so much! We are so excited for our 6 month (possibly more) adventure! We leave in 2 weeks!" Best, Steve

"Jason, Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your book. My wife and I are fellow adventurers and thought you were insightful, funny, and informative. Read some reviews after I read the book; I know there will always be naysayers throughout life. I must say I disagree with all of them that had negative reviews.
I guess we can all sit on the bench and point out the faults of why we shouldn't do things or plan adventures, or get up off the bench and start making adventures. As for myself and my wife we are already van shopping! Fair Winds and Smooth Sailing" Kevin Wallace

"I have fell on some real hard times and we live in our RV full time and just lost our jobs. We worked together for the same company and they do not have anymore work for sub contractors anymore. I do not have lot rent and need money badly. Could you please help me. I am a hard worker. I know people ask you for help all the time. But we are in real trouble right now. I research way more than most people do and I have so much information to write about. But I just dont understand all the computer terminology and how everything works. I understand that I can write ebooks and make money, but not alot. I can make a web site, but really dont get the gest of it all. I dont understand how to make everything jive because I am so busy working to make a buck to pay this or that... and only have short sperts here or there usually late at night, to research how to do these things briefly and dont know where to start. We need money desperately. I am sorry to burden you with these questions. We are just desperate right now. We have been self employed our entire lives and we were pretty wealthy.... But definately not anymore. We have a motorhome that everyone admires, if they only knew that we dont have 2 cents to rub together... We literally shy away from people who we can tell are approaching us to talk about our rig because it is custom built and we are so ashamed of our situation. We got into financial trouble in 2007 when everything started crashing. Lost most everything and had to sell of the rest to keep afloat. But all that money went to pay for the items we were trying to hold onto and the bills that were behind. The only thing we have left is our motorhome and our trailer (garage). We though with all of our work history and many many skills in all types of work that we would get hired anywhere. What we did not know is that people would not believe that we have so many skills and the fact the we have been self employed all these years. Nobody wants us because we dont have any "work history". We have references that were our many customers, but employers dont want them. Sorry, for pouring my life history out to you. You just seem like a really cool person. PHEEEWWW.... I have to admit it was nice to tell someone about our situation. Not even our family members know how bad off we are, maybe our parents have an idea. It is hard living with my husband because he is the worker but not the researcher or thinker. I have to do all that stuff as far as looking for jobs, etc. He is not computer friendly at all, but it exceptionally smart in many other ways. Anyway, if you have a quick way to get us making money idea on the internet, please send it my way. We are still in Florida until Monday, then I think we will be headed for the gate guard job you posted. I know your busy and probably think I am strange writing to you, just let me know if you dont want me to contact you about this anymore. I will certainly understand. And thanks for the help you have been so far."

NOTE from the author in response to the above email - I emailed them the work pages from the Vanabode book and this was her reply.

"We got the job. Thank you so much for being so kind and helpful. It is nice to know there are still caring human beings that walk the planet still. Have a wonderful day." Sherry

"I bought and read your book and would like to be included on your mailing list and receive the free updates you mentioned. I really enjoyed reading it and believe it contains info I will put to use." Jeff

"Hi I'm Laura and I really enjoyed your book. I'm in debt with Medical bills and was fired from teaching after 12 years. My health is inconsistent. I feel better out west in San Diego. My family and friends worry about me living alone but I feel better in a mild climate. I live in the Midwest. I don't know if I will live a normal life span or not but neither does anyone else. I will be getting a settlement from the school that fired me and I won't to go to California but I do worry about going alone. Thank you for writing such a great book, your life sounds amazing. Thank you :)" Laura
