This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips.

Las Vegas Premium Outlets

Las Vegas Premium Outlets is best described as more of a high-end outlet than what one might think when they hear outlet mall. There are more than 120 retailers in this open air shopping center located west of the strip and closer to the Stratosphere and the downtown hotels and casinos which are both about 2 miles away. Distinctive white canopies line the sun-exposed walkways throughout the outdoor mall offering some shade. The mall is divided into color-coordinated sections with directories to show you where you are and help you find your way around. The walkways are flat and wide enough for strollers holding twins, wheelchairs or motorized scooters. Most tourists find it easier to take a cab to this mall. When we are van camping all over the west we go here for hiking shoes and fun browsing.

This is a great place to shop if you are not pinching too many pennies. The variety of high-end and medium-range apparel stores and athletic stores is very satisfying. My husband and I couldn't get over how many shoe stores were at the Premium Outlets, way too many to keep track of. Some of the high-end retailers include A/X Armani Exchange, French Connection, Coach, Guess, and Kenneth Cole.

Kiosks are scattered throughout the mall walkways. Usually the vendors are trying to get your attention to clean your ring, massage lotion all over your hands or dress you in a sarong that can go in 25 different directions around your body.

The price tags at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets are a little bit less than the retail shops at the Fashion Show Mall but higher than the Las Vegas Outlet Center which is has truer outlet price tags. If you want fancy, designer, trendy expensive, but a one-of-a-kind outfit or pair of shoes, then go shopping at the Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian or the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

During the summer months the misters are in use with fans that spread moisture along the walkways. These offer a little relief unless it is a windy day and then the mist goes up, up and away instead of down; but it is fun to get misted once in a while. For a shopaholic coming to Las Vegas this is definitely a stop worth taking a taxi cab for. But please keep the weather in mind. Even though most Vegas winters are mild shopping in the late afternoon and into the night at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets can bring a whole new meaning to bitter cold. And the summers, forget about it. You will be hot and you will sweat. The notion that dry heat is different than humid heat is bologna. Hot is hot and sweating in clothes is just a disgusting feeling if you are not running a marathon. But the Nike store at outlet mall is awesome if you wanted to pick up some good bargains for sporting attire.

The indoor Food Court is nothing elaborate. Pretzels, ice cream, pizza, hamburgers, sweet and sour or bourbon chicken, and coffee are not what I call a good lunch. Well, maybe the coffee part. But basically, the food court is there for you to refuel and keep shopping. At least it will keep the kids quiet and occupied for a bit with the kiddie rides available. There are plenty of vending machines located throughout the outdoor mall too so you can quench your dry mouth at any time.

There is plenty of parking in the garage and in the outdoor lot as well. There is an information center, gift card purchases are available, 50 Plus Shopper Perks accepted, three ATM's, rentals for strollers and wheelchairs, and internet access in the food court. Transportation to and from the Premium Outlets via bus lines, trolley, and taxis. Usually there is a line of taxi cabs waiting to drive you somewhere so there really is no waiting when you are ready to leave the Las Vegas Premium Outlets.
