This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips.

Las Vegas Outlet Center

Las Vegas Outlet Center is at the south end of the strip just 2 miles from Mandalay Bay. Now this outlet mall is not fancy but holds its own as a mall where you buy stuff you need. This is the place you come to when you really want to get some serious shopping done. This is not Las Vegas trinket shopping this is real everyday stuff at outlet prices which save you 25% to 65% off retail prices. The Las Vegas Outlet Center is completely under air and has over 125 outlet stores offering everything from apparel for entire family, shoes, accessories, jewelry, housewares, gifts, and specialty items.

The Las Vegas Outlet Center is just two miles south from THEhotel at Mandalay and Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino.

Insider Secret - Rent a shopping cart so that you don't have to carry all of the bags from your purchases, his purchases, and the kids purchases too.

Staying within your budget you could buy everything from underwear, shirts, shorts, pants, shoes, sports wear, evening wear, and bathing suits. You will find a wide variety of retailers from Coach, HotTopic, Ashworth-Callaway Golf, Danskin, Lane Bryant, Levi's/Docker, Rack Room Shoes, and a whole lot more. Don't forget to check out the adjacent Annex building from the main outlet center which has Saks Fifth Avenue, Off 5th, and Nine West. You might want to start here first for two reasons. One, can stash your purchases away in your car, and two, you won't be so worn out from walking the mall that you miss the great bargains at the Annex stores.

For children there are two atrium courts, which are also located at the food courts. One of the atrium courts has a beautiful grand carousel where you and the kids can ride again and again. At the Las Vegas Outlet Center's Annex building there is the Disney Character Warehouse where you can buy left over and discontinued items from the theme parks.

Although the Las Vegas Outlet Center's address is Las Vegas Boulevard, this is not the kind of shopping atmosphere you might expect from the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace or Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian with cobblestone floors and painted sky ceilings. Even the atmosphere inside the Fashion Show Mall is bright because of the sky lights, has wide aisles and has an airy feeling. The Las Vegas Outlet Center's interior is plain Jane and typical outlet mall decor. But really, when you are saving money, out of the desert elements, and spending time with family and friends, do you care?

The mall's layout is the only drawback. It is basically an out and back hike. If there is just one or two stores you want to go to then I suggest looking at the mall layout so that you know where to park so you can run in and get out quickly. If you are planning to buy a lot at the Las Vegas Outlet Center then rent a shopping cart. They are deep so they hold a lot of bags. I rented a shopping cart when I went to buy kitchen and bedding items for my new house. With the shopping cart you can feel refreshed all day while you walk and shop without getting a headache from the weight of all the items you purchased. You may spend more than you were planning at the mall but at least when you get home you will have something to show for it.

This mall is for everybody from children to great grandparents, locals and tourists. You could easily spend the majority of the day here. There is plenty of seating at the food courts and throughout the mall for those that want to people watch or just to rest for a while. The mall is clean. The parking is easily accessible. At the Information Center you can rent a stroller, wheelchair, and even shopping carts. They also have 50 Plus Shopper Perks and gift cards for purchase. There are two food courts and two ATM's in the outlet center. Taxi, bus, and trolley pick-up and drop-offs are also available at the Las Vegas Outlet Center, we frequent mostly for hiking shoes for our extended 4-5 month road trips.
