This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips.

Las Vegas Magic Show

Las Vegas magic shows are must when you visit Vegas. Magic and Vegas are synonymous. There are at least 10 magic shows running on the Strip currently. The famed duo, Siegfried and Roy and their white tigers performed in Las Vegas from the 1970's to 2003, when Roy was seriously injured by one of the tigers during a performance. When we Vanabode camp through an area we try to take in as much local color as possible. Here in this massive city we can only do a month at a time each year.

Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo has one of the longest running Las Vegas magic shows. He is known as a classical magician and dresses in a tuxedo and tails. His show is geared toward kids and the family. Because he was highly influenced by magic as a kid, Lance invites kids from the audience to come on stage during his performance, hoping to inspire them to become magicians too. You can see Lance levitate his beautiful assistant or make a Corvette appear.

Mac King at Harrah's combines comedy with magic, performing 2 shows in the afternoon, he is family-friendly. King is very good at slight-of-hand tricks turning carrots into goldfish and doing rope illusions. He gets the audience clapping, foot stomping and cheering by the end of the show.

Steve Wyrick built his own $60 million entertainment complex in Planet Hollywood which includes a theater, club and magic shop. He also has one of the largest illusions on the Strip when he makes a life-size helicopter appear on stage. On weekends his club turns into an ultra lounge.

Nathan Burton has a late afternoon Las Vegas magic show at the Flamingo. It's kid-friendly with some tricks kids will like for their mischievous qualities. Nathan also has beautiful showgirls to assist him with his illusions. Gerry McCambridge is a Mentalist and in a class of his own at Hooters. His amazing ability to read minds and make predictions will boggle you. He is known as the 'Mentalist to the Stars,' entertaining such celebrities as Courtney Cox, Donald "Trump" and Tim Burton.

Xtreme Magic starring Dirk Arthur at the Tropicana will have you in awe with his exotic cats, lighting effects and dancing assistants. He talks to the audience telling them a little about how he trains his big cats. He has the only show in the U.S. with a liger, that's lion and tiger mix to you. They are also the largest cats in the world, growing up to 1,000 pounds.

Penn and Teller have a show at the Rio where they show you how some of their tricks are done and leave you mystified at others. They rely on audience members to be part of their illusions. Tickets to all these shows can be had on this page. If you want to introduce your kids to magic, I recommend a Las Vegas magic show.
