Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is a landmark casino. This walk through time recalls the way things were 50 years ago in Vegas. With its old-school appeal and island oasis theme, Tropicana is truly a full-service casino offering family to adult entertainment with one of the largest pool areas on the Strip. If you're planning on swimming and staying in a room instead of your Vanabode bring your best swimwear and robe because it's a long walk to get to the pools through the casino. There are even first run attractions like Titanic and Bodies to be experienced.

There are 7 restaurants; each is casual dining for your convenience. Their Island Buffet is well-priced and serves shrimp and prime rib every night. MGM Grand or the Luxor has better priced buffets for breakfast and also more to choose from.

Steak at the Trop can be had at Legends or Mizuno's. Legends is a bargain steakhouse and excellent. Mizuno's is a Japanese Steakhouse which means steaks are prepared teriyaki style.

There's a lot to see and do at the Trop. There is a good afternoon magic show called Extreme with white as well as gold tigers. There's the longest running production show, Folies Bergere. Its showgirls, in feathers and sequined costumes, are fabulous just the way Vegas used to be.

If you came for the pool, you might want to stay in the Garden rooms in the low-rise buildings. Some of these are spectacular and actually feel like your own private oasis as they sit in gardens near the pools. Wi-fi is available in the Meeting and Conference Center as well as in designated areas by the pool.

Sometimes they hold Miss America or other kinds of Beauty Contests at the Trop due to the beautiful outdoor traopical pool scene.

Continuing its oasis theme, the gambling area in the Trop has Island God machines. Check out the geckos at the top of the pillars. Look carefully for the dollar slots with the 98% payback as guests have the best success playing on them. The table game area is intimate and like the Flamingo there is a feeling of excitement and winning. Your drink will get to you fast.

Paradise rooms are found in the towers. Try to stay in them. Not only are they larger but they are the newest rooms at the Trop. Some have Jacuzzis, some have mirrors on the ceiling. This is old Vegas and these rooms can be very large. Try to get the rooms facing the Strip for a stunning view. You will find the staff friendly.
