This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips.

Ballys Hotel Las Vegas

Ballys Las Vegas is one of the better values on the strip and thier parking suits our van camping lifestyle most days. If you walk to the south from Bally's, you can easily get to New York-New York. Caesar's is North, as is the Mirage and Treasure Island. The monorail will take you from Bally's all the way up to the now closed Sahara. Out front they still use a 250 foot people mover and huge neon columns and spirals are worth a picture.

The staff at check-in is helpful and friendly and fast which is good since some casino hotel staff at other large joints tend to be a little up in the air. Bally's is not as expensive as the other hotels nearby due to its age. It is one of the better strip values since you don't have to pay for much "name value".

Photograph shows Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas Jubilee Theater where you can see hundreds of showgirls in the spectacular production called Jubilee.

Bally's Las Vegas Hotel in this Las Vegas photo above. I recommend staying in the North Tower if it's too hot for your Vanabode. Even a standard room at Bally's seems larger than a standard room at Treasure Island or even Planet Hollywood. Bathrooms are marble and granite. Complimentary toiletries by Gilchrist and Soames. Trays of food are not left out in the hallway for hours. Maid service is thorough and fast and the room was very clean and smelled good.

Jubilee! is one of the longest-running Vegas shows at 25+ years. It is a huge topless revue known for its big show size and traditional showgirls. Ballys has the usual amenities of a large strip hotel complex with spas, salon/gym and pools like most decent strip hotels the pools have private cabanas for rent. The championship tennis courts found here are rare at any hotel in Vegas.

Bally's Hotel Las Vegas has a nice little drinking place called Indigo Lounge where you dance with the cool R&B bands and soul too. In the hallway between Bally's and Paris you'll find Le Burger Brasserie which has big portion size with great first class burgers and you can sit at the bar and watch the sports if you like.

Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas offers classic Vegas entertainment. The main headline show at Bally's is Donn Arden's Jubilee. 2007 was the 25 year anniversary of this stage production. Shows come and go in Vegas. It's not easy to maintain a headline show on the Stripfor so many years. The Las Vegas Review Journal gave it the 'Best Showgirls' award.

The production is spectacular with million dollar costumes by well-known designer Bob Mackie. Bob has been costume designer for Cher, the Carol Burnett Show, Lucille Ball, Oprah and many other female celebrities. He is known as the 'Sultan of Sequins.'

If you want to see Las Vegas showgirls, this is where you go. Bally's is next door to the Paris. About 100 showgirls dance, sing and parade around in elaborate rhinestone studded costumes. They even descend from the ceiling. There is an impressive scene where the Titanic sinks on stage.

Spectacular fountains synchronized to music in front of Bellagio across from Bally's.

Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas has other productions and events in its showroom. Currently, the famous TV show, The Price is Right, has been recreated in a live stage version. It was also a classic on TV running for 35 years with Bob Barker. Audience members are the contestants and can play from their chairs on interactive touch pads. Just like the TV show, you can play The Big Wheel, the Race Game and the Fabulous Showcase as well as other games. You're able to win cash and amazing prizes like vacation packages and cars or you can redeem your rewards credits at Bally's.

Contestants must be 21 or older because like many shows in Vegas you can sip on your favorite cocktail while enjoying the show. If you want to be a contestant, you can register up to three hours ahead of show time and you'll receive the classic yellow name tag. Similar to the TV show, you bid on the items, and then play the games. It's lots of fun and who knows, you could win big at Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas.

Other entertaining things to do while you're waiting for the shows to start include playing one of many slot machines or video poker machines. In the casino, dealers are very friendly and helpful. Drink service is very fast and you'll find all the games you like to play. In the Race and Sports Book area, you can wager on all the major sports events, horse racing and contests. When you gamble at Bally's, you want to use your Players Club card because a portion of the money you gambled can be used to pay for room charges at any Harrah's property or food like we do. This helps to keep the cost of hanging in these world class fun houses to a minimum while van camping.
