This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips. Stratosphere Big Shot Las VegasStratosphere Big Shot Las Vegas 3...2...1...blast-off - weightlessness at 3.2 Gs. Seriously awesome especially at night heading straight for the stars and moon. The Big Shot ride at the tippy top of the Stratosphere Tower catapults 16 riders to 1,049 feet from ground level. Obviously, this ride is not for the faint of heart. This is the closest you can get to being an astronaut as you are launched 160 feet in 2.5 seconds at 45 mph which by the way feels a heck of a lot faster than 45 mph. This calculates to total weightlessness with 4 Gs of force that literally lift you off your seat and probably morphs your face. What goes up must come down and you are coming down at 0 Gs and then bungee up and down the last three times before floating back to the launch pad one minute later. The view from the top of the world in the Strat is unreal. The Big Shot at the Stratosphere is without a doubt the ultimate rush. Many riders want to ride it over and over again. And, because so many riders can't get enough of the Big Shot there is a discount to ride a second time. There are restrictions on age, height, and weight for obvious reasons. Extreme weather conditions could shut the ride down so make sure you call the Stratosphere ahead of time.
