Holland Michigan's Harbor Light and Farmers MarketThis is part of an 18 week, 7,532 mile, Vanabode road trip detailed in the
book from Amazon Here in Holland Michigan every single item sold at this farmers market is grown within forty miles of here.
Above: Sweet cherries, black raspberries, tight blueberries, crisp cucumbers, exotic lettuces, crimson radishes, various corns, sweet stevia, hot jalapenos, exotic peppers, red and purple rhubarb, and dozens of other fruits and vegetables round out the inventory. This is one of the biggest farm direct to consumer markets I have ever been to outside of California. We pass on the extraordinary purple box containing ten pounds of blueberries for twenty-two dollars. Instead we buy one dollar tomatoes, a quart of blueberries for three dollars, a blueberry donut for seventy five cents, a Mexican style breakfast burrito with egg, potato and thick crunchy bacon for three dollars, radishes for one dollar per bunch, enormous sugar snap peas at three dollars a pound, three big cucumbers for a dollar, and a purple bell pepper for fifty cents. We’ll combine our canned beans in butter for dinner with raw radishes and bell pepper. The blueberries and raspberries are the best I’ve ever had. Many of the hand written signs on each stall state the fruit was picked yesterday afternoon, just twenty hours ago. The flavors are deep, rich and powerful, not just sweet. Above: Holland Michigans Harbor Light AKA "Big Red" can be seen in the distance through the inlet just as you go into the "sea". For thousands of unforgettable experiences on this affordable
